I was going to talk smack about Nazi Germany today, but I think that's best left for after the Spring holidays end.

So here's a story about a German practising Ethical Piracy instead.

Felix Von Luckner - 1881-1966 )

Boston Baked Beans
Baked beans with extra sting from chipotle and mustard. (Warning: Needs molasses, aka brown syrup, thus can get very sweet.)

Milunka Savic was a Czech soldier who fought during WWI.
Savic is one of my favourite girl-who-went-to-war stories. Mainly because a) It's true, and b) She was discovered, but kept up doing what she wanted to do, even convincing the authorities that she was more use on the battlefield.

Mariya Oktyabrsakaya, real-life Tank Girl

Mariya's husband was killed by Germans. Mariya wanted revenge. Mariya bought a tank.

Biggles, W. E. Johns 1932-1970 )

Badass of the Week: Felix von Luckner
The story of a man who evidently grew up reading about Wooden Ships and Iron men. Unfortunately, he was born at the wrong end of that century. This did not stop his career of non-murderous piracy.

Badass of the Week: Jacob Pavlov
One man. One house. Battle of Stalingrad. (Oh, and a never-ending onslaught of Germans.)

Just One Cookbook: Shoyuzuke
Very simple recipe for Japanese pickles. Rice vinegar+sugar can be substituted with sushi vinegar.
