Dear Yuletide Writer
(And presumably, fellow Barr fan?)

I'll be equally happy for any of the requested canons! Some of them have more writing than others, because I'm not equally good at coming up with prompts for all of them. This does not mean that I want them any less. If none of the prompts tickle your fancy, feel free to come up with your own.

On Genfic and UST

I love genfic. I love adventures that are written in an effort to capture canon. I love UST and shipfic where nothing is consummated and everything is left unspoken, either because one of the characters can’t spit it out, or will not because it’s [Insert historical period here] and the characters don’t understand that their desires are romantic. I also love enemies-to-lovers, or just enemies-to-friends. For me, ships/gen combinations are more about the dynamics and characters involved, so if you just can’t see something I’ve asked for as a ship, I’d often be more than happy for gen featuring the two in their canon relationship.

On Smarm

I love smarm! The kind where two people are comfortable enough around each other to let their guard down to the point where they’re sleeping together, combing each other’s hair, etc. If I’ve asked for a ship, I’ll often be more than happy for smarmy gen. If I’ve asked for gen, I’ll be estatic for smarm. And so forth.

On Smut

I also love smut if possible, but I’d prefer it to be more about the characters/dynamics involved rather than pure PWP. Well-earned smut at the end of an adventure is lovely. At that end, I also love uniforms, boot-blacking, and military rank.

Udo Schmidt

Isador Gulphstein Udo Schmidt Sinker of Ship. There has to be a story here. One possibly filled with cringe, shenanigans, and innocent whistling. Please tell me everything about Udo's brief stint in the Kriegsmarine! I'd also love to hear about 'normal' days in Afrika, ie 'important missions', pranks, and maybe the backstory as to how he ended up in a dress at the cabaret?

Rosen Kavalier

I'd love some backstory for Rosen! We know he's a foster kid (Going off of Barr's notes), yet he's still made officer in the Luftwaffe. And he has been a pimp. I really want to know the story behind this, was there forgery involved? Contacts? Scum and/or villainy? Sleeping around?

Barring that, Rosen being Rosen on a special Rosen mission is always appreciated. Be it fucking with his lover's troop, or finding the perfect engagement ring.

Pfirsich Rommel

Please tell me all about Pfirsich desperately trying to keep his battalion from blowing each other up. Acting the kind uncle to his men? Working out where to place some of the more difficult soldiers? Winning someone’s trust? Or his time after the war, settling into Berlin with his family. I'd also be perfectly happy to see anything about his relationship with his son, wether it's a confused Herr Oberst trying to figure out how to make formula(With or without Udo’s help), or visiting Tunisia post-war with husband and ’nephew’.

Kjars Winzig

Again, backstory would be lovely. I'm very curious as to how he got into jazz, how it all started and perhaps also how it all ended. Was Dagmar involved? Did she go with big brother to jazz clubs, or were they always kind of distant? I'd also love to hear about his injury in the war, how he comes to cope with it.

Pfirsich & Udo

These two are adorable. Udo fussing over Pfirisch while he’s ill/indisposed? Pfirsich comforting Udo? Udo’s acidity balanced by Pfirsich’s cheer? Gah. They are so cute and sibling-like. Please give me more of their relationship! Caring for Mani together? Adventures during that time when they were spying? Canon-divergence where Pfirsich and Udo are still together by the end of the war?

Winzig & Udo

I want everything. The two having an epic battle involving pranks, ill-will, and insubordination? Check. Being forced to uncover grudging respect for oneanother after ending up having to help eachother out? Check. Dealing with eachother during or after Miki? Udo getting the better of Winzig? Check, check, check.

Winzig/Udo

The two had a few lines in ’Miki’ that were a bit too slashy to go unnoticed. Udo wanting someone to care for him? Winzig’s lines about ’gratitude’? If you want to go dark, there’s plenty to inspire. The two being imprisoned together? Being forced to work together is great, so is Winzig taking advantage of Udo’s breakdown. Reluctant intimacy in the form of caring for each other’s wounds is also nice, as is cohabitative smarm that is totally just because they’re cold and need to be warm, etc etc.

That said, I’m equally happy for something set in Africa, light-hearted or no. Fights turning just a little too heated? Both of them vehemently in denial about it? Made to reluctantly work together, perhaps to save Pfirsich or the unit? Falling in love with each other without realizing it?

I’m a sucker for enemies-that-hate-each-other-but-must-work-together, but I’m also really happy for ’shipfic’ that is really just two characters attracted to each other without ever saying so or understanding what these feelings are. So if you just want to write copious amounts of confused UST, I’m totally here for that, too.

Rosen/Pfirsich

These two are adorable. I’d love for something fluffy and/or domestic - We don’t see enough of their ’mutually happy’ moments in canon, so anything where the two are happy and together would be lovely.

I love the fact that they commit and actually do stay together, despite the time, place, and Rosen being Rosen. So I’d love to see fic centered around that, like the tale of the engagement ring, how Rosen came up with the idea, etc. Or the two getting married ’for real’, be it a grand old wedding with Udo as best man and Stange officiating, or just quietly taking sacrement together in an empty church.

I’d also love to see the two raising Hans in postwar Berlin, learning to be a family, or adjusting to life as full-time parents.

Udo ---> Pfirsich (one-sided)

I’d love to see something where Udo discovers or comes to terms with his feelings, heart-breaking though they might be. I’d be equally happy for something with Udo not really understanding why he feels the way he does about Pfirsich, but keeps feeling happy and strangely sad about his dear Herr Oberst.

Winzig —-> Udo (one-sided)

I'll confess to having contemplated something where Winzig falls in love without realising it, and ends up channeling his feelings into antagonism, before coming to terms with things late in the day, ending with him doing The Right Thing at the end. (Instead of, y'know, Siberia) This is only one idea, though - Feel free to come up with something different.

Canon-specific DNW:
-SS/SA uniforms prominently featured, or portrayed on nominated characters. Side characters mentioned in passing is fine, but I'd rather not receive any fic where the nominated characters are dressed in them. (Udo's riding breeches don't count)
-Anything dealing with Udo being sent to Siberia, unless it's a fix-it where that doesn't happen.
-Udo and Pfirsich’s relationship being permanently damaged.

Stinz
(For this canon, I'd prefer one of these relationships.)

Stinz Löward & Rankel

I’d especially love fic dealing with human! Stinz during the brief time when he has two legs. Adjusting to two-legger life, run-ins with other troops, maybe even newly-formed four-leggers?

Stinz needing to lean on someone, Rankel taking on the responsibility of looking after Stinz while he's getting used to his new appendages. One of his lines suggest that he used to sleep close to Stinz' half-horse body. How about Rankel warming Stinz up for a change?

I'd also love to hear about their adventures while travelling: Who they meet, what they can piece together about what happened to the world, abandoned buildings, etc. Maybe even a <s>Canadian</s> Alpine shack to keep them warm and cozy for a night, while a storm rages outside?

Stinz Löward/Rankel

If you want to ship him with Rankel for some temporary comfort on the road, that’s fine and dandy, too. How would Stiz react to those kinds of advances? Being Catholic and all the repression that brings.

Siim & Stinz

I want these two to be friends. And make up for lost time. And maybe, somehow, have Stinz act as a father to Siim. Siim getting married? Siim being courted by some stallion that Stinz doesn’t approve of? Or maybe, gasp: Wanting to work at something unbefitting of a filly? Just show me the two bonding at some point, over whatever. Siim needs a dad.

Sgt. Kirchen & Stinz

Kirchen! I love how he puts on a tough guy front, and then he really just cares about his soldiers. I'd love to see him extending that care to Stinz. I'd also love to see him challenge Stinz with some new stupid two-legger task, or see them braving the first days of the war together.

Sgt. Kirchen/Stinz

There's a passage in the spin-off novelette about how Kirschen is very popular with young recruits. I'd love to see something where Stinz actually kind of does fall for him, or vice versa. Nothing has to come of it, and it's fine if both of them stay completely oblivious as to why the other is so magnetic/handsome/especially infuriating.

Sgt Kirschen/Male OC

Alternatively, Kirschen being pursued by some handsome recruit. Perhaps someone that actually manages to charm his way into the Sgt.'s heart? Again, it's fine if it stays as unconsummated, mutual, perhaps one-sided yearning. It's also fine if Kirschen ends up in bed with him.

Sgt. Kirchen/Julianne (I accidentally called her 'Charlotte' in the initial Ao3 sign-up, sorry!)

AU where Kirchen wakes up after being only near-fatally wounded in the war? With Julianne visiting, or perhaps even working as a nurse. I love the dynamic they have in the spin-off novelette 'The Ambush', so if you'd like to write something about that, I'd be over the moon. (Maybe something where he doesn't escape at the end?) 
 

Bosom Enemies
(For this canon, I really just want the two of them! Be they friends or enemies. Not one without the other.)

Stewart & Stephen
Stewart/Stephen

The relationship the two have at the end of canon? Yes. Just, yes. Clinging to each other? Friends who keep bickering, but still mean the world to each other? Yes, yes, yes! I want it. I want it all. I’m fine with shipfic or gen fic, as long as there is some smarm/portrayal of the bond these two share. Recovering together in the mental hospital? Reuniting after the war? Sending secret letters back and forth while waiting for the war to end? Accidentally running into each other during the war? Reluctantly ending up helping ’the other side’? Stewart’s lack of family gives him a great reason to keep bothering Stephen, but what does Stephen think of this? Also, Stephen visiting America and experiencing culture shock, or vice versa.

If you'd rather write something set during the time when they are horses, h/c and the two getting along for a few minutes would be lovely. Preferably at the start of canon, when they're both in the army.
