Dear NoFM Writer!

Thank you for taking on one of my tiny canons.
Some have more writing than others, this does not mean that I want it any less.

General I’d prefer not-list: Trans headcanons, AUs*, grimdark, modern politics/attitudes in historical fandoms** Modern Mental health terminology(I don't mind if a character is written as having X or Y, but I would prefer not having it named or diagnosed, unless it is referred to in a period-specific way such as ‘Shell-Shock’)

*Canon divergence is fine!
**IE Characters being unrealistically accepting of homosexuality, mental illness, etc(Unless established in canon).

Things I enjoy: Genfic, banter, historical details, period attitudes to sexuality, H/C, history. Genfic, particularly if it tries to capture the mood/feel of canon.

Opt-in: One-sided/unrequited pining from characters nominated as couples. Smut, dubcon.

Biggles Series - W. E. Johns

What is this?
British Boy's Own Adventures. Biggles is an adventure series that chronicles the adventures of UK pilots from WWI-WWII, and onwards through the 60's. They start out sufficiently gritty, and grow more and more light-hearted as the years go by.

Where can I find it?

Red Fox has released a few reprints of the earlier books, albeit slightly sanitized, but less so than the original mid-century re-issues (Pilots are no longer flying to certain death over pre-war 'lemonade'). Books can also be found for kindle over here: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=biggles&rh=n%3A133140011&dc&qid=1555927513&rnid=2941120011&ref=sr_nr_n_12

My favourite era is the WWI-books, so I'd be over the moon for something set during that period. Shenanigans at base? Epic or not-so-epic dogfights? Marie's perspective? Anything is game!  I absolutely adore ‘Boy’s Own’ adventures where the focus lies on military expeditions, childish pranks and strong bonds of camaraderie, and Biggles is just the canon for that. I also love how firmly grounded they are in the time they’re set - Anything that incorporates period speech/hobbies/attitudes would be lovely to read.

Desert Peach - Donna Barr

What is this?
American Underground comic. Desert Peach is the story of Erwin Rommel's fictionalised younger brother, camp gay Colonel Pfirsich Rommel. Pfirsich is a pacifist who runs a small grave-digging battalion filled with 'stray puppies', ie people who should not be in the army. It starts out as campy farce, though later stories deal with the darker side of the war.

Disclaimer: While the canon takes place on the German front during WWII, Nazis are always portrayed in a negative light. Things going on in Germany are not ignored. Nobody in canon likes Nazis, nor does the author.

Where do I find it?

You can read four selected stories for free over here. The rest can be purchased from the same site:

Udo is my favourite character. Seeing him just have adventures and be his usual grumpy self would be absolutely darling. His (platonic) relationship with Pfirsich is very sweet - The way they care for each other, their utter protectiveness of the other - it’s seriously adorable. Anything centering on that would be lovely.

We don’t get to see much of Falila and Udo’s relationship, but what we do see seems to be happy, so I would love to see anything centering around their courtship or marriage. Does she ever figure his heritage out? Does it matter? Canon divergence where he isn't sent off, and brings her to Berlin?

I ship Winzig/Udo, based off of their interactions in 'Miki'. That said, I'd be equally happy to see them arguing, reluctantly co-operating, or just reaching a point where they don't hate each other as much. Being punished for a fight by being made to work together, growing closer after the events of Miki, etc. (Am also not averse to Winzig pining, wether he realizes that he is or stays oblivious to his attraction)

Rosen and Pfirsich are canon and incredibly sweet. Their on-screen chemistry is lovely, the way they clash is terrible and hilarious. It just makes the fact that they love each other all the more cute! And then they go on to raise a kid. I adore the fact that they go on to be parents, so anything about them learning to be parents would be just lovely. Though I am also very curious about how Rosen came up with the engagement ring.

Pandora's Choice - Yu Dori

What is this?
Korean Webcomic. Pandora's choice chronicles the story of the dysfunctional Blais family in 1840's America. It is highly reminiscent of 1970's shoujo manga, though the costumes and historical background is very well-researched. The plot mainly follows young Pandora Blais, a half-Chinese girl, who comes to terms with her attempts to win her father's love.

Where can I find it?
www.lezhin.com. Unfortunately, it's behind a paywall, but the first six episodes are free. If you live in Korea or read Korean, you can order it in paperback form. (And if you do, I envy you greatly.)

Christopher Blais/Veronica Blais

This relationship is a disaster from start to end, albeit a relatable one. I’d love to read about the hardships, the fights, the distance- And if you’d rather write fluff, or want them to be happy for five minutes, that would be lovely, too. What if Ronnie survives? Would she want more children? Would she raise Pandora better? Would she leave Chris?

Christopher Blais & Pandora Blais

Christopher isn’t very good at being a father, and Pandora’s attempts at making him care is heartbreaking to watch. It’s like two kids bickering at times- More like two siblings than a father and child. Do they ever connect at some point?

Victor Durand/Christopher Blais

These two are so tragically dysfunctional. Their dynamic in canon is very sweet, despite bleak undertones. I’d love to see more of that bleakness, though fluff is also highly valued. Victor caring for Chris as he grows worse? Chris and Victor having Difficult Conversations(™)?

Jeremy Durand/Pandora Blais

These two spend most of the series being terribly sweet, and yet they never end up together. I love Pandora being assertive and Jeremy being more passive. I'd love to see them end up together, be it legally in a church, or an angst-filled affair.

DNW: Modern AU or any AU at all. Canon divergence is fine.
