Amazon Woes

Listen, oh internet, to my tale of woe.

Most of December has been spent working sales. My body was unprepared for the onslaught of Christmas trees. All of my 'free' time was spent recovering from exhaustion, unable to concentrate on much. My commute was three hours long. I would regularly arrive home too late to use the kitchen, for fear of waking other roommates. Thus I woke early, came home late, and had no dinner. Rinse and repeat for most of December. In this mayhem, my friend nudged me towards a comic that seemed right up my alley. I purchased what was affordable at the time, aware that the entirety of canon would have to wait for payday in January.

My job has not left me much time to do other things than browse the internet, so finding a new historical fandom to obsess over made me very happy. It being a comic made it possible for me to enjoy it despite my concentration being shot, which made me probably a bit too hyped up about it.

Some money was gifted to me at Christmas time. To make the most out of the holiday, I ordered the volumes of canon. It was meant to be delivered to my parent's home on '2-4 January'. Having worked in a mail order firm, I naturally assumed that this would mean 'It will be sent before January'. It would be perfect, I would stay until the second and leave on the third at the latest, perhaps the fourth if circumstances conspired.

January rolled around, and the 'shipped' message did not. Customer service was kind enough to knock off the expedited shipping fee, which was very appreciated.

By the third of January(Thursday), I awoke to find that I had entered the wrong card in the system. Amazon did not find fit to let me know about this until the package was due to ship: Only then did they decide to take the payment. Slight annoyance, but ah well. My bad.

So I entered the correct card around 10:00 AM, and my package shipped out around 15:33.

I was expecting it to appear in my arms today, so that I could finish canon and get started on a fanzine. Alas, 'Mechanical failure' at 23:20 left my package stranded in Poland with a shiny new delivery date of 'Monday'. In reality, this means 'Wednesday' or later due to me being back home, and the package being delivered to my parent, who has to forward it to me.

The last update came at 2:53 this morning, informing me that customs had been cleared. No further updates have been received as of this time of writing. Amazon probably has a tonne of back-orders from before the holidays, so it might just be the worst time of the year to be ordering anything.

I probably sound horribly bratty right now, but I've caught the holiday flu and have not-so-fun things to look forward to once I'm home, so I really really hoped I'd have a comic by now.

comments
